Waiting In The Shade

This is a scene from years ago on the mountain at our cow camp. "Skippy and a couple of other horses were saddled and ready for the day to begin. We had a few minutes while we were waiting for the neighbors to get the to help gather that day.
I notice the sun shining on his face and it stopped me in my tracks. I took a few photos of him and the other horses that morning as we waited.
I knew I had to do a painting of it! Little did I know at the time it would take me 20 years before I would be able to get it done, but I finally got around to it!
What a special moment from my memories on the mountain... it made me smile the whole time I was painting it!
There lots of fun stories about old Skippy! He was quite the horse.
