The inspiration came from the most humble object a wooden match. Looking closely at it one can see it has incredibly interesting textures. Not only that but the two elements of fire and light play such an important role in our lives. A life giver but also a destroyer. To create extra impact the matches are almost 14 inches tall like an honorable guard. Drawn entirely in coloured pencil on paper.
