A storm was approaching but the sun was still shinning. This piece was painted while thinking of my nephew whom had just passed away at the young age of 32 years. He was with us so briefly on this earth and I felt his presence while painting this piece. I feel it represents a sort of passing through in a time or place.
This was done on 4 ply museum board. I applied a pastel ground with brush, then did an underpainting in watercolor. Once dry to the touch, I painted with various soft pastels letting the underpainting peek through for a dynamic vibrant feel. My reference was from my photo and memory of this day.
