Kvernufoss Waterfall, Iceland
During an extended trip to Iceland, circling the entire island, my daughter and I were so fortunate to see so many amazing waterfalls. The topography of Icelands surface is remarkable with so much color and rugged terrain. We were there during the last weeks of winter so the green of the earth had not yet overshadowed the colors of the cliffs and landscape. It was also a time of great contrast between the white waterfalls, remaining snow and those beautiful earth hues. I can't wait to go back and will again endure the coldness of winter to enjoy again for all of those reasons. I painted Plein air while there and did a great deal of sketching. This was the first of many I eagerly repainted in my studio.
