Nature, for myself as a painter, is often as audible as much as it is visual. Here at McKerricher State Beach and Park, I could hear the crashing of the surf, the calling of the gulls, the splash of the waves against the rocks. In this painting, my intention was to create a visual variety and rhythm of shapes and colors that recalled the natural music that I heard on that beach.
