These tall and invasive grasses, called phragmites, grow up to 15 feet tall and dwarf any person passing by. I started this oil painting en plein air, and finished it in the studio. The was the towering grasses cradled this seemingly small stream served as my inspiration. This inspiration, along with the bright midday reflection of the sun, and its warm backlighting through the grasses, created a glow that was calm and beautiful to witness.
