Abstraction Impressionism and Realism

This was a really fun paint. I say paint because I do both drawings and paintings and experimental techniques with pastel, yet this one was done with an underpainting first. I loved the River in this painting and this is my third rendition of the subject matter. I've shown the photograph in a local show, and did a Watercolor print titled, Current Calls. I loved it because I got to play mom all day and take photos of my children playing in the river with two other boys. They were moving rocks into this formation, and I explained they were making an En vironmental Art Work, and they laughed at me and just kept palying. I don't know how long the rocks stayed this way, yet I wanted to document what they did. I enjoy how the abstraction on the right contrasts with the Impressionism on the left, and how the rocks draw us to the focal point of realism.
