Palo Duro Canyon- River Found
This was one of a pair that I entered yet did not get into the International Summit on Climate Change.
I was hiking in Palo Duro Canyon during a horrible drought, and as I hiked I passed painters and hikers telling me that if you are looking to paint or view the river, you can turn around now, because it is not there.
I went without my gear, only a camera, because I had already experienced hiking and not being able to climb with all of it from a rougher (or read tier 2 settingz). Yet, I knew I also wanted Studio paintings from that trip, so I kept hikinh with my camera. It was not viewable at that time of day for sure, and I painted, Palo Duro Canyon Where has The River Gone, based on that time of day and reference photos.
I kept hiking, and when I found some tracks of qan animal I didn't want to run into, I began to turn back, yet watched where they went. Down deep into the ravine, and I was amazed witht he drought they were even viewable, yet when I returned to the original spot I had looked for, I now saw vegitation growing and a blue deliniation on the rocks where the light struck, and realized the river was hiding and low, yet not gone.
I thought the pair was a good pair for The Climate Summit Art Show, yet later found out they wanted really big scale works.
It took me a year before I saw that the shadow of both the paintings told a story. I see a child asking God about the river and presenting his need to heaven's throne.
